Dance Classes and Schedule |
|
This class begins with a basic technical warm up that center around the principles of placement and finding the best alignment for ones’ body. The concepts used to stretch, strengthen and prepare the body to move are pulled from classical ballet, various modern techniques and Pilates creating a contemporary class with an emphasis on the relationship between movement and music.
By incorporating different ways of thinking about the body and our relationship with it we are also preparing and opening our minds to expression through movement and the exploration of different ways of moving.
Students will work on flexibility, strength, range and ease of movement and building / maintaining technique. Working from a strong center, dancers move through the class finding freedom in the use of torso and limbs, finding a sense of dynamics and initiation of movement and finding a sense of breath vs. control.
From the beginning to advanced level, this class focuses on proper technique and execution of all jumps and turns. Every step is learned as its’ own separate entity across the floor, and is then put into short traveling combinations incorporating movement at the advanced level.
Veronica encourages students to use their own creativity to make their own combinations. In this more technical class, she still provides an environment where students can show their personality and attitude to learn to dance techniques while still emphasizing the need for discipline, classroom etiquette and student cooperation
Elementary course: suitable for beginners aged 5 to adults
