Enhancing Social Skills for Special Needs |
This program works with its’ participants to promote and develop social skills, specifically through self-management, peer relationships, compliance skills and assertion skills. This is achieved by dance movement therapy by allowing the participants another avenue to control impulses, communicate in alternative ways and cope with different environments.
- Peer Relationship Skills – team work, group cohesion, listening, giving compliments, respecting others
- Self-Management Skills – identify feelings and deal with them, quiet time and self- reflections
- Compliance Skills – follow rules and cooperate with others
- Assertion Skills – expressing complaints or opinions appropriately
